Gauteng Provincial Legislature
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) plays a very important role in a democratic country like South Africa. The GPL is the parliament of Gauteng and a state organ that is empowered by the South African Constitution to make laws for the Province and to ensure that the people of Gauteng have a say in the governance of the province through participating in legislative processes.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs
The CoGTA’s mandate is derived from Chapters 3 and 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No. 108 of 1996). As a national department its function is to develop national policies and legislation with regard to provinces and local government
The South African Local Government Association
The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is an autonomous association of municipalities with its mandate derived from the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. This mandate defines SALGA as the voice and sole representative of local government. SALGA interfaces with parliament, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), cabinet as well as provincial legislatures.
